Malignant Gliomas

Gliomas are a class of tumor that develops from glial (neuroepithelial or support) cells. Astrocytes, ependymal, and oligodendroglial cells are all examples of glial cells that compose the supportive tissue of the brain. Malignant Glioma are relatively common primary brain tumors that affect over 9,000 adults in the U.S. every year.

Treatment varies for Malignant Glioma, but for more severe conditions surgery or irradiation treatment may be needed. Gamma Knife Surgery is sometimes used in treating Malignant Glioma. Please consult with your Physician to see whether this type of non-invasive surgery may be applicable to your condition.
