Metastatic Brain Tumors

A metastatic tumor is created when cancer cells from a primary tumor spread from one part of the body to another. These abnormal grow of cells and tissue can be identified as metastatic because the cell have no natural relationship with the organ or surrounding tissue.

Although symptoms may not occur with metastatic tumors, those that occur in the brain can cause headaches, balance issues and seizures. If you experience these problems, see your physician to review your situation.

Treatment for metastatic brain tumors can include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biological therapy, hormone therapy, and surgery. For inoperable metastatic brain tumors gamma knife surgery may be an option.

Gamma knife is a non-invasive surgery that is able to target the tumor without damaging other cells. If you think that Gamma Knife surgery may be an option for you, please consult with your Physician to see whether this type of non-invasive surgery may be applicable to your metastatic tumor.
