A Malignant Brain Tumor is a tumor that can invade and destroy nearby tissue and that may spread to other parts of the body. In the United States, approximately 190,000 people are diagnosed with malignant brain tumor or metastatic brain tumors (cancer that spreads to other parts of the body). Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor death in children under 20 years of age.

There are over 120 different types of brain tumors and their effects on a patient's physical and cognitive abilities can be devastating. Headaches, seizures, cognitive or personality changes, eye weakness, nausea or vomiting, speech disturbances, or memory loss can all be considered symptoms of a brain tumor. Malignant brain tumor occur in 14 out of 100,000 people.
